Traditional cuisine is a core part of Mexican culture—a reflection of its people and heritage.

Mexico is a country of immense diversity, and its cuisine is a true mosaic of colors, ingredients, aromas, and flavors. Baja California, with its blend of cultures and coastal geography, is no exception.

The region’s culinary tradition has evolved alongside its history and its privileged location by the sea. Many of its dishes highlight fresh fish and seafood, enhanced by local products, Mediterranean spices, and Asian influences—resulting in the distinctive Baja Med style.

Itinerary

At the scheduled time, transfer from Tijuana Airport to Ensenada.
Enjoy a scenic drive along the coastal highway, with a stop in Puerto Nuevo to savor its famous lobster by the sea.
Continue to your hotel in Ensenada.

Breakfast at the hotel.
At the scheduled time, visit three wineries in Valle de Guadalupe. These wineries offer tastings and explanations of their winemaking processes.

Possible visits include Barón Balché, JC Bravo, L.A. Cetto, Casa Magoni, among others (subject to availability; some may have an additional cost).
Note that winery access may change due to health protocols and some visits include tastings only, without a guided facility tour.

Suggested countryside lunch at Finca Altozano (not included).
Return to your hotel in Ensenada.

After breakfast, head to Valle de Ojos Negros to begin the Wine & Cheese Route.

  • Visit Cava de Marcelo, the largest cheese cave in Latin America, for a sensory tasting experience.

  • Visit a lavender field and participate in an essence-extraction activity.

  • Optional natural, organic lunch at the Cava’s ranch (not included), or lunch in Ensenada.

Continue to the historic Hussong’s Cantina, then transfer to your hotel.
Free time to enjoy Ensenada’s world-renowned cuisine.

Overnight in Ensenada.

After breakfast, travel along the scenic highway back to Tijuana.

Highlights:

  • Stop in Playas de Tijuana to see the border wall at the edge of the sea

  • Pass by the San Ysidro Port of Entry, the busiest border crossing in the world

  • Visit the Tijuana Cultural Center (CECUT)

  • Drive along Paseo de los Héroes and the gastronomic district

  • Pass the Xolos Stadium, Boulevard Agua Caliente, and Agua Caliente Tower

  • Explore Avenida Revolución, the Jai Alai Palace, the Monumental Clock, and Plaza Santa Cecilia

The tour concludes at the historic Caesar’s Restaurant, birthplace of the original Caesar Salad in the 1920s, where you’ll taste the classic recipe paired with a glass of wine or craft beer.

Located in northern Baja California, the Wine Route enjoys a Mediterranean climate ideal for grape cultivation.

Best time to visit:

May to September, when vineyards are at their fullest.
However, the region is beautiful year-round.

What to bring:

  • Light clothing for the day

  • Sweater, jacket, or pashmina for cool mornings and evenings

This tour is designed for adult travelers who enjoy wine and gastronomy, surrounded by mountains, agricultural landscapes, and unforgettable scenery.
